I offer a number of PhD projects in quantum photonics. Email me for details or read on.
You have a number of funding options for joining our lab. The first is to apply with us directly, we offer up to 3.5 year standard PhD stipends through the Heriot-Watt James Watt stipend scheme.
An attractive option is to apply through The Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) which offers prize studentships for competitive UK and EU students. The current application round is now open and will close by the end of January. SUPA studentships are funded for 3.5 years and come with a small amount of independent travel money.
Some students applying through SUPA may be eligible to apply for a PhD position in the Scottish Doctoral Training Centre for Condensed Matter Physics. Applications for 2018 are now open, and we’re offering two projects on hybrid quantum networks and graphene plasmonics. CDT scholarships are funded for four years, come with even more travel money, workshops and summer schools etc. but also with more coursework.
